FAQ

Do I need a doctor referral?

No referral is required to obtain osteopathic treatment. Some health insurers may require a doctor referral in order to claim your receipts.

What should I wear?

Individuals are best to wear loose non-restrictive clothing that you are comfortable to move around in. Comfortable pants/ shorts and t-shirt is great!

How many sessions will I need?

The number of treatments needed will vary as each individual is different. Factors that may influence this include the length of time the area of concern has been around for, the severity of the injury and your overall health. Typically around 3-5 treatments you may begin to notice significant improvements although this varies to each individual.

What should I expect during my first treatment?

During your first treatment we will review the patient’s health history, discuss goals of the treatment, and provide a description of Osteopathic Treatment.  A full body assessment will be performed to have a clear picture on how the body is moving, the range of motion and mobility. Treatment will be integrated to resolve any tensions or misalignments the body is presenting with through the different layers of the body including fascial, muscular or ligamentous articulations. Using Osteopathic principles and techniques, gentle manipulation is applied working with the body’s tissues to facilitate the self-healing process and encourage restoration in balance and alignment. Each treatment is tailored to the individual’s needs and specific to what is required that treatment session.

What Should I expect after treatment?

Post treatment you may experience some physiological changes within the next 1-2 days which may include muscle soreness, tiredness, headaches, change in emotion and general discomfort. This is completely normal as your body takes on treatment. It is also normal to not experience any of these symptoms. Every individual is different and may experience different responses to treatment.
